The Brazilian Association of Integrative Community Therapy (ABRATECOM) is a non-profit organization aimed at strengthening the development of Integrative Community Therapy (ICT), bringing together people and institutions, and promoting and creating networks.
ABRATECOM was founded on May 1, 2004, in Brasília, during the 2nd Brazilian Congress of Community Therapy, with one of its missions being the expansion of ICT training, bringing together Training Poles, institutions responsible for the training programs.
Over the past 20 years, ABRATECOM has recognized and accredited over 40 Training and Care Poles located across the five regions of Brazil. It is estimated that approximately 30,500 Community Therapists have been trained by the Training Poles, including over 3,000 health workers and community leaders, trained through government partnerships.
ICT is considered an advanced psychosocial approach by the Ministry of Health. It is a collective therapeutic practice that involves community members in the activity of building supportive social networks, establishing bonds, and promoting quality of life.
It has been included in the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC) since 2017 and is present in 24 countries across South America, Europe, and Africa, working in various sectors such as health, education, social assistance, communities, and the private sector.
In 2024, Integrative Community Therapy was certified by the Banco do Brasil Foundation as a Social Technology.
